“This Frankenstein has got it into his head that he will bring the dead back to life! As if he lived in the 21st century…”
Converting the monuments of Great Literature into craft-based object-theatre on the scale of the living room: if anyone has a patent on this it is the theatrical wizards of Compagnie Karyatides! Now, at the special request of La Monnaie, they are getting their teeth into the very first science fiction novel, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. In their delightfully poetic horror version, the old Victor Frankenstein is drawing up his will, pursued by the ghost of his beloved mother, the memory of his most daring experiment, and the haunting music of composers such as Verdi, Poulenc and Rachmaninov, not to mention Celine Dion. An ideal first step into the world of opera, for anyone over 10.
