IMPRESSION, SHIFTING LANDSCAPE
Inspired by Claude Monet and his world, Atelier Bildraum and Thomas Smetryns present a production in which the garden and the landscape act as a window between fiction and reality. The French Impressionist painter was unrivalled when it came to generating vast panoramas of emotion from the closed setting of his garden. In his work, the ‘appropriated piece of the world’ that we call a garden became a symbol of personal freedom. Onstage, five performers create a complete landscape that incorporates every individual fantasy and need; with the aid of evocative music, the landscape exists in a schizophrenic state between utopia and dystopia. The architect, photographer, singer, and musicians are transformed into technicians of the imagination. Sound and the visual fuse into a many-layered reality, into a shifting landscape of impressions.
Meet the artistic team of In between violet and green after the show on 12 March 2017.
