The Time of Our Singing

Back in 2015, La Monnaie launched its Building Bridges initiative in a bid to give young people and vulnerable members of the public a taste of opera at a much reduced price or even completely free of charge. Coordinated by MM Schools and the ‘A bridge between two worlds’ social programme, the Building Bridges performances are intended specifically for people who would like to attend an opera but might not otherwise have the opportunity or the means to do so. The relaxed, festive atmosphere and the reactions of the audience  – from visible emotion to infectious enthusiasm – invariably make this the most heartwarming performance of the year. This season’s choice of production, The Time of Our Singing, embodies and disseminates this spirit of togetherness, making it the cherry on the cake of the Raising Voices Festival!
