Immersive orchestra rehearsal New Year’s Waltzes

La Monnaie opens the new year to the sound of the waltz! On 5 January, Music Director Alain Altinoglu and the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra invite you to come and discover all facets of this emblematic dance during a festive concert featuring the masterpieces of Johann Strauss II, Richard Strauss, Maurice Ravel and others. Two days before, as a Friend, you will get a unique opportunity to attend a free rehearsal of this concert seated between the musicians!

Workshop early music and private concert Narratio Quartet

With the Monteverdi production I Grotteschi on the horizon, baroque music takes centre stage at La Monnaie this spring. The perfect time to explore together the roots of the art form opera. During a workshop, violinist and musicologist Dr Ann Cnop (UGent), researcher and early music specialist at Klara, will tell you all about historically informed performance and early instruments. Afterwards, you can enjoy a private concert by the Narratio Quartet. Before accompanying Silvia Tro Santafé in the recital Lamenti on 3 March, this renowned ensemble will treat you to an exciting Beethoven programme.
