After the triumphant final chords of Das Rheingold, the music of Die Walküre leads us stormily into the human world. There, the elements are unleashed and the wrath of the gods rages mercilessly, and yet... despite everything, love still manages to blossom.
How does Richard Wagner’s music express the tragedy of the Wälsungen, the inner dilemmas of Wotan and the fearlessness of Brünnhilde? With what new leitmotifs does he expand his tetralogy? And how is the emblematic ‘Walkürenritt’ actually composed?
Music director Alain Altinoglu will be happy to tell you all about it during this accessible musical lecture in our Fiocco Room. As in the edition on Das Rheingold, he will pair his in-depth knowledge of the score with virtuoso illustrations at the piano and a hearty dose of humour. This event will conclude with a convivial reception.
