All genres are good, except the boring kind.— Voltaire, quoted by Rossini in a letter
A neoclassical villa in Passy in 1858. This is where, on a Saturday evening, one could meet le tout Paris, gathered at one of Gioachino Rossini’s musical evenings. The least one can say is that those were anything but boring. Rossini paid as much attention to the gourmet food that he served as he did to the Italian and French works that were performed and parodied for his guests.
These weekly meetings were also an opportunity to compose new works in a style quite different from his operas. Collected in the albums Soirées musicales and Péchés de vieillesse, he wrote over 150 mélodies and chamber music pieces full of sophisticated plaisanteries. Soprano Nino Machaidze, tenor Enea Scala and baritone Vittorio Prato invite you to rediscover the atmosphere of these salons in an intimate and playful recital. A journey into the past to meet another Rossini.
