FUN, THOROUGH, AND WITH LIVE PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT
Inside the Music is a series of musical lectures where you will learn all about the operas on our programme.
For Henry VIII, one of the rare gems of the French opera repertoire, we invite Annelies Andries. A professor of musicology and music history at Utrecht University, she will take you on a fascinating journey through the score by Camille Saint-Saëns, offering an accessible analysis illustrated with musical examples at the piano. How does Henry VIII fit in within the tradition of French grand opéra? In what lies the particularity of this music? And what do you absolutely need to know before coming to hear it live from 11 May onwards? Find out during this encounter, which will end with a convivial reception.
