Every musical challenge Sabine Devieilhe has taken up in recent years has led to a harvest of praise, prizes, and starred reviews. Her La Monnaie debut in Orphée et Eurydice (Gluck/Berlioz) and her recent performance as the Queen of the Night (in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte) also stunned audiences and critics alike. We are delighted to now offer the French coloratura soprano a whole stage to herself. The programme for her first recital at La Monnaie is a thoroughly bleu, blanc et rouge one: an emotional homage to the mélodie française, with works by Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc, Gabriel Fauré, and Maurice Ravel.
Devieilhe will be back in Brussels later this season. At our New Year concert, she will be joined by the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra and the conductor Raphaël Pichon in a selection of Mozart’s most virtuosic concert arias.
