On October 25th, we celebrate the third edition of World Opera Day. One of this year’s themes is ecological opera-making. That is why we are presenting the Green Opera project of La Monnaie today.
The third edition of World Opera Day, celebrated on 25 October, will take place in a challenging context as theatres around the world resume activity. Former production models have been challenged, and many have invested thought and time in re-inventing themselves to embody their roles as responsible actors of society. This year’s theme of 'Opera Reboot' translates into 3 main strands: equal opportunities and diversity, employment for young people and the discovery of new talent, and ecologically responsible productions. The perfect opportunity for La Monnaie to present its Green Opera project, driven by our commitment to make opera more sustainable.
