In its Jahrbuch 2019, the Opernwelt magazine has bestowed to Romeo Castellucci three awards, including the prestigious title ‘Director of the Year’.
It is the second time the Italian director claims the award, having previously been the recipient of it in 2014 for our production of Orphée et Eurydice (Gluck/Berlioz). Featured this season at La Monnaie with his staging of Arthur Honegger’s Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher, Romeo Castellucci has also been named ‘Set Designer of the Year’ while his version of Richard Strauss’ Salome was crowned with the ‘Production of the Year’ award.

Meet Holland’s next opera star! On Sunday evening, October 20, MM Soloist Leander Carlier won ARIA, a singing competition on the Dutch TV channel NPO1. In addition to a trophy, he also secured a place at the Dutch National Opera Studio (Amsterdam).
